Playmakers

Having a strong skilled playmaker in your team who is intelligent can greatly increase the amount of chances you create for your team.
If you have this type of midfielder it might be a good idea to choose him as a playmaker and let most of the play go through him. This is because his skill will then carry more weight than that of the other midfielders and give the team more attacking power. There is a risk doing this however in that your opponents may choose to mark him closely and in that case the playmaker's skill will carry less weight than that of the other midfielders.

In my opinion, if you have 4 or 5 midfielders who are all around the same skill level and who dont have the intelligent quality then there's no need to have a playmaker as you never know which ones will have a good game and if you choose one as a playmaker and he has a bad game it's detrimental to your team.

Therefore if your going to use a playmaker then do the following:

* Change your playmaker choice regularly. Be unpredictable
* Never have a moody player as playmaker. He might play badly
* Intelligent midfielders along with high skilled players make the best playmakers
* If your using the long ball tactic, then dont use a playmaker.
